500 Litre Forkliftable Water Tank

Product Overview

The 500 Litre Marquee Weight / Water Tank is a robust, versatile and high-capacity ballast solution designed for securing marquees, gazebos, temporary structures and other outdoor installations where reliable anchoring is required without the need for permanent ground fixings.

Manufactured from strong and durable HDPE / polyethylene, this flat-profile tank can be filled with water to provide approximately 500 kg of ballast, making it particularly suitable for large temporary structures and applications where substantial ground stability is required.

The tank has been designed with integrated carrying handles and tie-down points, allowing it to be handled more easily when empty while also providing convenient points for securing the tank in position.

A unique forklift and pallet truck feature incorporated into the base allows the tank to be positioned or moved using suitable handling equipment, including when the tank is full.

The tank is supplied with two outlet positions, both fitted with plugs as standard. This provides flexibility to use the tank with no active outlet, one outlet or two outlets depending on the selected configuration.

The natural translucent finish also allows the water level to be viewed through the tank walls, making it easier to monitor the amount of water used for ballast.

Marquee & Event Ballast

The primary application of this tank is as a high-capacity marquee weight, providing a practical alternative to permanent ground anchors when securing temporary outdoor structures.

A 500-litre tank filled with water provides approximately 500 kg of ballast, offering substantial weight for securing suitable marquee legs, gazebos, temporary structures and other equipment.

Water ballast is particularly convenient because the tanks can be transported and positioned empty, significantly reducing their handling weight. Once positioned, they can be filled with water on site to provide the required ballast.

When the event or temporary installation is finished, the tanks can be drained, reducing their weight again and making them easier to move or transport.

The actual number and weight of ballast tanks required will depend on the structure, installation method, location and wind-loading requirements. Always follow the structure manufacturer's guidance when determining the required ballast.

Forkliftable & Easy to Position

A key feature of this tank is the integrated forklift and pallet truck feature incorporated into the base.

This allows suitable material-handling equipment to be used to position or move the tank, including when it is full.

This can be particularly useful for:

  • Large event sites
  • Marquee installation companies
  • Event hire companies
  • Exhibition contractors
  • Temporary structure installations
  • Construction sites
  • Commercial storage areas
  • Repeated event installations

The forkliftable base can significantly simplify positioning compared with conventional ballast weights that need to be manually carried or moved using separate lifting equipment.

Only suitable, appropriately rated lifting and handling equipment should be used.

Integrated Handles & Tie-Down Points

The tank features strong integrated handles designed to make the unit easier to handle when empty.

These handles also double as tie-down points, providing convenient locations for securing the tank or associated equipment where appropriate.

The handles are particularly useful when the tank needs to be positioned manually before filling or moved after it has been drained.

When securing the tank, suitable restraints should be used and the installation should be assessed to ensure that the tank remains stable under the expected conditions.

Stackable Design

The flat tank configuration allows the units to be stacked when empty, helping to reduce storage requirements between events or when a number of tanks are being transported.

This makes the product particularly useful for marquee hire companies, event contractors and businesses that regularly deploy temporary structures.

Stacking should only be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and with appropriate consideration given to the stability of the stack.

Visible Water Level

The natural version of the tank features a translucent finish, allowing the water level to be viewed through the tank walls.

This makes it possible to check whether the tank has been adequately filled without needing to open the tank.

The visible water level can also be useful when draining the tank at the end of an event or installation.

Coloured tank options are available where a specific appearance or colour is preferred.

Applications

The 500 Litre Marquee Weight / Water Tank is suitable for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Marquee ballast
  • Gazebo ballast
  • Temporary structure anchoring
  • Event equipment ballast
  • Exhibition structures
  • Outdoor events
  • Festival structures
  • Trade show installations
  • Wedding marquees
  • Commercial event installations
  • Construction site applications
  • Temporary site structures
  • Potable water storage
  • General-purpose water storage
  • Applications requiring forkliftable water storage

The tank should only be used for liquids that are compatible with the HDPE / polyethylene construction and selected fittings.

For ballast applications, water is the primary intended filling medium unless an alternative filling material has been specifically approved for the tank.

Outlet & Drainage

The tank is supplied with two outlet positions, allowing greater flexibility when configuring the tank.

Both outlets are supplied with plugs as standard. This means the tank can be used with:

  • No active outlets
  • One active outlet
  • Two active outlets

The tank includes 1" and 2" drain plugs, providing options for draining and configuring the tank according to the intended application.

The outlet arrangement can be particularly useful where the tank needs to be drained quickly after use or where additional water connections are required.

Always ensure that the selected fittings, plugs and connections are correctly installed and suitable for the intended application.
