Empteezy

Empteezy units are designed for the safe storage of drums, IBCs and containers holding oils, chemicals or other liquids that could pollute if spilt. The integral bund catches any leaks or spills, keeping them contained away from drains, soil and watercourses. They're widely used on industrial sites, workshops, farms and fuel storage areas.

Under UK environmental guidance (and the Control of Pollution Regulations), bunds must generally hold at least 110% of the largest container's capacity, or 25% of total stored volume if that's greater. Always check the specific regulations that apply to what you're storing — oil, chemicals and fuel can have different requirements. Yes, most Empteezy storage units are designed for outdoor use and are built from durable, weather-resistant materials such as galvanised steel or polyethylene. A roof or cover isn't always mandatory, but it's strongly recommended to keep rainwater out of the bund and reduce the risk of overflow during heavy weather. Covered or fully enclosed units are also better suited to sites where security or COSHH compliance is a priority.

A drum store is sized to hold multiple standard 205-litre drums upright, typically with integral bunding and sometimes forklift access points. An IBC bund is built specifically to accommodate one or more 1,000-litre IBCs, usually with a lower deck height to make dispensing easier. Choosing between them really comes down to what containers you're using on site and how much throughput you need.

Most units arrive ready to use — they're free-standing and don't require any groundworks or fixing, so they can simply be positioned on level, stable ground. That said, larger or multi-bay units should be sited with access, drainage falls and forklift routes in mind. If you're placing units near watercourses or drains, check local environmental agency guidance before final positioning.

Many standard Empteezy units are held in stock and can be delivered within a matter of days, but larger or bespoke configurations may take longer to manufacture.
