Managing fuel efficiently across your farm or construction site has never been easier with our portable diesel dispensers that bring the fuel station directly to where you need it most. These mobile units are designed to save you time and money by eliminating costly trips to forecourts, especially when you're dealing with multiple pieces of machinery spread across large sites or remote locations. We stock dispensers that can handle everything from topping up tractors in distant fields to keeping generators and plant machinery running without interruption, all whilst giving you complete control over fuel consumption and costs. From compact units perfect for smaller farms to higher-capacity dispensers for industrial applications, we've got the right equipment to keep your machinery fuelled up and your operation running smoothly.

Portable Diesel Dispensers FAQs

Do portable diesel dispensers need to be bunded?

Yes, if you're storing more than 200 litres of diesel you fall under the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations, which require secondary containment capable of holding 110% of the tank's capacity. Most of our dispensers are self-bunded as standard, meaning the bund is built into the outer casing rather than being a separate skid or bund wall you need to source yourself.

What size dispenser do I need for a small farm versus a construction site?

Smaller farms topping up a few tractors or a single generator are usually well served by units in the 900 to 1,200 litre range, which balance capacity against ease of towing. Construction sites or operations running multiple items of plant tend to need 2,500 litres upwards to reduce refill frequency and keep pace with daily consumption. Think about how often you're prepared to arrange a refill delivery, as that's often the deciding factor rather than site size alone.

Can these dispensers be towed behind a vehicle or do they need transporting on a trailer?

Many of our portable diesel dispensers are fitted with a towing eye and running gear so they can be towed directly behind a tractor, quad or 4x4 at low speed on private land. For road use you'll need to check the unit meets relevant lighting and braking requirements for its weight, and some larger tanks are better suited to being lifted onto a flatbed or trailer instead. Always confirm the towed weight against your vehicle's rating before moving a full tank.

What pump and flow rate comes fitted to a diesel dispenser?

Most units come fitted with a 12V or 230V electric pump delivering somewhere between 40 and 70 litres per minute, which is fast enough to fill a tractor or plant tank without standing around all day. Some smaller or budget units use a hand or rotary pump instead, better suited to occasional low-volume top-ups. Check whether you need a 12V pump for battery-powered operation in the field or a mains unit for a fixed yard location.

Are these tanks suitable for storing red diesel as well as white diesel?

Yes, the tanks and pumps themselves are fuel-neutral and suitable for either red or white diesel, so the choice comes down entirely to what you're legally entitled to use it for. Just make sure you're keeping accurate records where required and that the dispenser is clearly labelled to avoid any confusion between fuel types if you run more than one tank on site.

What comes included with delivery, and is any assembly required?

Portable diesel dispensers typically arrive fully assembled with the pump, hose, nozzle and meter already fitted, so you can be filling machinery within minutes of delivery. Larger capacity units are delivered on a pallet or by kerbside HGV due to their weight, so it's worth checking you have a suitable means of moving the tank into its final position on site, such as a forklift or tractor with forks. We'll confirm specific delivery details and any access requirements when you place your order.
