350kg Marquee Weight, with a capacity of 350 Litres of water ballast
Product Overview
The 350 Kg Marquee Weight is a robust and purpose-built ballast solution designed to provide reliable anchoring for marquees, event tents, gazebos and other temporary structures.
With a capacity of approximately 350 litres of water or sand, this heavy-duty ballast tank provides a practical alternative to traditional concrete blocks and ground stakes. It is particularly useful for events and temporary installations on hard-standing surfaces where stakes cannot be driven into the ground.
Manufactured from strong and durable MDPE / polyethylene, the tank is designed for repeated use and features a natural translucent finish, allowing the approximate water level to be viewed through the tank walls.
The tank features strong integrated handles which make it easier to carry when empty and can also be used as tie-down points. This provides a practical alternative to guy lines, helping to reduce the potential trip hazards associated with ropes and lines around busy event areas.
A unique forklift and pallet truck feature is incorporated into the base, allowing suitable mechanical handling equipment to be used to position or move the weight when full.
The stackable design also makes the units easier to store when not in use, making this a particularly useful solution for marquee hire companies, event organisers and commercial contractors.

Purpose-Built Marquee Ballast
The 350 Kg Marquee Weight has been specifically designed to provide substantial ballast for temporary structures.
Marquees and event tents often need to be installed on surfaces where conventional ground stakes cannot be used. This can include concrete, tarmac, paving and other hard-standing areas.
Rather than relying on permanent ground fixings, the ballast tanks can be positioned around the structure and filled with water or sand to provide the required anchoring weight.
This makes them suitable for:
- Marquees
- Event tents
- Gazebos
- Temporary structures
- Exhibition structures
- Outdoor event installations
- Market and trade structures
- Temporary shelters
- Commercial event equipment
The required number of ballast weights should always be determined in accordance with the marquee or temporary structure manufacturer's specifications and the expected environmental conditions.
Water or Sand Ballast
The tank has a nominal capacity of 350 litres and can be filled with either water or sand.
Water is particularly convenient where the weights need to be transported to different event locations. The units can be transported and positioned empty before being filled on site.
Once the event is complete, the water can be drained away, substantially reducing the weight and making the units easier to handle, transport and store.
Sand provides an alternative filling material where a different ballast solution is required.
The choice of filling material should be based on the requirements of the temporary structure, the expected wind conditions, the installation location and the manufacturer's ballast recommendations.
Strong Handles & Tie-Down Points
The tank incorporates strong integrated handles which provide convenient lifting and carrying points when the unit is empty.
The handles can also double as tie-down points, allowing suitable straps or ropes to be connected directly to the ballast.
This can provide an alternative to guy lines, helping to reduce trip hazards around busy event areas.
Suitable rated straps, ropes or other securing equipment should always be used.
The ballast should be connected to the marquee or temporary structure in accordance with the structure manufacturer's installation instructions.
Forklift & Pallet Truck Feature
A unique forklift and pallet truck feature is incorporated into the base of the tank.
This allows suitable mechanical handling equipment to be used to position or move the ballast weight when full.
This is particularly useful for commercial applications where multiple 350 kg weights may need to be moved around an event site.
Potential users include:
- Marquee hire companies
- Event companies
- Festival organisers
- Exhibition contractors
- Outdoor event venues
- Commercial contractors
- Equipment hire businesses
Filled units should only be moved using suitable mechanical handling equipment operated by appropriately trained personnel.
Where possible, the ballast should be positioned as close as practical to its final location before filling.
Alternative to Concrete Ballast
The 350 Kg Marquee Weight provides a practical alternative to traditional solid concrete ballast blocks.
One of the main advantages is that the tanks can be transported and positioned empty before being filled on site.
A 350 litre water-filled unit contains approximately 350 kg of water, while the empty tank weighs approximately 24 kg.
After use, the water can be drained through the dedicated drain outlet, substantially reducing the weight of the unit for transportation and storage.
This makes the product particularly practical for businesses that regularly install and dismantle temporary structures at different locations.
Securing Marquees & Temporary Structures
The 350 Kg Marquee Weight should be considered as part of the overall anchoring system for the temporary structure.
Each ballast unit should be connected securely to the appropriate marquee leg, frame or designated anchoring point.
The number of weights required will depend on the particular structure and installation conditions.
Factors that can affect the required ballast include:
- Marquee size
- Structure height
- Number of support legs
- Structure design
- Location
- Wind exposure
- Expected weather conditions
- Installation duration
- Manufacturer's anchoring requirements
The 350 kg ballast capacity should not be interpreted as a universal recommendation for every marquee or event structure.
Always follow the structure manufacturer's specific wind-loading and anchoring requirements.
