Europalite tanks are modular GRP sectional panel tanks, built up from individual bolted panels rather than moulded as a single piece. This means very large capacities — often tens of thousands of litres — can be delivered in flat-packed sections and assembled on site, where a one-piece tank of that size simply couldn't be transported or craned into position.

Because the tank is built from standard panel modules, capacity is largely dictated by how many panels are used and the base footprint available. This makes it possible to specify anything from a few thousand litres up to very large industrial or fire suppression volumes, tailored to the site rather than limited to fixed off-the-shelf sizes.

A level, load-bearing base is essential — typically a reinforced concrete slab designed to take the full weight of the tank when filled with water. The base must be checked against the manufacturer's loading specification before assembly, and ground conditions should be confirmed by a structural engineer for larger installations. Getting this wrong is the most common cause of problems with sectional tanks.

Yes, Europalite panel tanks can be supplied and lined to WRAS standards for potable water storage, making them suitable for wholesome water applications as well as non-potable uses such as fire suppression, industrial process water or attenuation. Always confirm the intended use at ordering stage, as internal coatings and fittings differ between potable and non-potable builds.

In exposed or above-ground installations, insulation panels or external cladding are recommended to reduce heat loss and protect against frost damage, particularly for tanks holding potable water in winter. Cladding also adds a degree of physical protection and can improve the tank's appearance where it's sited in a visible location.

The tanks arrive as flat-packed GRP panels, fixings and seals rather than as a complete unit, which keeps delivery straightforward even for large capacities. Assembly is done on site by bolting panels together over a purpose-built base, and while some competent trades installers manage this themselves, we'd recommend experienced fitters for larger multi-panel builds to ensure the seals and structural bolting are correct.
