Supertuff

Supertuff tanks are moulded from high-grade polyethylene (MDPE/HDPE), giving a tough, UV-stabilised, single-piece construction with no seams to fail. They're designed to withstand outdoor exposure, impact and the pressures of a full liquid load without cracking or flexing. This makes them a robust choice for both agricultural and domestic water storage where a long service life is expected.

Start by working out daily consumption or the volume you need to hold in reserve — for a household this is typically based on occupancy, for farms on livestock numbers or spray requirements. Also check the available footprint, headroom for filling, and any access restrictions for delivery. As a rule of thumb it's worth sizing up slightly rather than under-specifying, as demand often grows over time.

Select models in the Supertuff range are manufactured to WRAS standards and suitable for potable water, but not every tank in the collection is approved for wholesome water use. Always check the individual product listing before ordering if the tank will store drinking water. Non-potable variants are perfectly suited to rainwater harvesting, irrigation or general agricultural use.

These tanks need a flat, level, well-compacted base capable of bearing the full weight of the tank when filled — a concrete slab or well-prepared compacted hardcore/sand bed is standard practice. Any unevenness can stress the tank wall over time, so it's worth checking level carefully before installation. If the tank will be sited on soft ground, additional foundation work is strongly recommended.

Yes, most Supertuff tanks accept standard bulkhead fittings, ball valves, outlets and inspection hatches, and can be plumbed into a pump system for pressurised supply. Fittings are usually positioned to suit gravity-fed or pumped setups depending on the model. It's best to plan fitting positions before delivery, as retrofitting extra penetrations on site can be more difficult once installed.

Large tanks are delivered on a flatbed or crane-assisted vehicle and typically require kerbside or off-loading access with sufficient turning space, as many are too large to be manhandled into position by hand. Check access routes, gate widths and overhead clearance in advance, and have manpower or lifting equipment on site if the delivery driver cannot assist with positioning. It's also worth having the base fully prepared before the tank arrives to avoid delays.
