Red Gorilla FAQs
What are Red Gorilla trugs and tubs made from, and how durable are they?
Red Gorilla products are moulded from a flexible, high-density polymer that resists cracking, splitting and UV degradation far better than standard rubber or plastic buckets. They stay pliable in cold weather rather than going brittle, and the material shrugs off knocks from tools, hooves or machinery. Most customers get years of hard yard or building-site use out of them before replacement.
Are Red Gorilla tubs suitable for use with animal feed and bedding?
Yes — the flexible tubs, feed skips and buckets are widely used across equestrian yards, smallholdings and farms for feed, water and bedding. The smooth, non-porous surface is easy to hose out and doesn't harbour bacteria the way worn plastic can, and the flex in the material makes tipping out set feed or frozen contents much easier. Just avoid harsh abrasive cleaners, which can dull the surface over time.
What size trug or tub should I choose for garden and yard work?
For general garden use — weeding, mixing small amounts of compost, carrying tools — a small to medium trug (around 15–25 litres) is usually enough. For yard work like mucking out, feed carrying or building-site mixing, go for the larger tubs (35 litres and up), which have reinforced handles to cope with the extra weight. If you're unsure, size up rather than down, as the flexible material means larger tubs still nest and store easily when empty.
Can Red Gorilla products be used with chemicals, cement or oil-based substances?
The polymer used in Red Gorilla tubs and buckets is resistant to most common site and garden chemicals, diluted cleaning agents, cement and general building materials, which is why they're popular with trades as well as gardeners. That said, they're not designed for storing concentrated solvents or fuel long-term, so for anything hazardous check the substance's own storage guidance first. A quick rinse straight after use with cement or render will keep the tub looking and working like new.
Do Red Gorilla tubs and trugs stack or nest for storage?
Yes, most of the range is designed to nest inside one another when empty, which is handy if you're buying a set of different sizes for the yard, garden shed or van. The flexible sides also mean they squash down slightly for easier storage in tight spaces, then pop back to shape when in use. This makes them a practical option where storage room is limited, such as on site vehicles or in stable tack rooms.
What's the delivery lead time and packaging like for Red Gorilla orders?
Red Gorilla items are generally in stock and despatch quickly, typically arriving within a few working days depending on your location. Smaller trugs and buckets are boxed or bagged individually, while multi-packs are consolidated to keep delivery costs down. If you're ordering a bulk quantity for a yard or trade job, get in touch before ordering to confirm current stock levels and delivery timing.
