One And Two Piece Divided Tanks FAQs

What's the difference between a one-piece and a two-piece divided tank?

A one-piece tank is moulded as a single unbroken shell with an internal baffle wall creating two separate compartments, giving a fully sealed division with no on-site joint. A two-piece tank is manufactured in two sections that are joined and sealed on-site — usually because the overall size is too large to transport or manoeuvre through restricted access as one unit. Both give the same functional separation; the choice is generally driven by transport and access logistics rather than performance.

Why would I need a divided tank rather than two separate tanks?

A divided tank lets you store two different liquids or water sources within a single footprint, saving space compared to installing two independent tanks. Typical uses include combining a potable mains-backup supply with non-potable rainwater harvesting, or separating stages within an effluent or process tank. It also means one delivery, one excavation and one set of connections rather than duplicating the groundwork.
