Conical tanks offer a great solution for applications that require 100% drainage and are required for efficient processing of certain liquids. Our range of cone bottom tanks come in either a 30, 45 and 60-degree cone and are available from 40 litres to 17,500 litres. The cone angle ensures maximum performance, with even the most viscous liquids not building up inside the tank. The angle of the cone has also been tested as an effective way for solids settling and solids separation applications.
A heavy-duty galvanised steel support frame can be an option for our range of cone tanks. They are also available without frame if required.

Which cone angle should I choose — 30, 45 or 60-degree?
The steeper the angle, the faster and more complete the drainage, so 60-degree cones suit thick, viscous liquids or applications with heavy solids that need to fully evacuate. A 45-degree cone is a good all-rounder for general liquid storage and separation work, while 30-degree cones are often chosen where floor space or headroom is limited but full drainage is still needed. If you're unsure, tell us what's going into the tank and we can advise on the best angle for the job.
Do I need the galvanised steel support frame?
A cone bottom tank can't stand upright on its own, so unless you already have suitable raised support in place — a mezzanine, stand or existing frame — you'll need ours. The galvanised steel frame is sized to match the tank and raises it enough to fit a valve, pipework or a collection vessel underneath the outlet. It's supplied flat-packed for straightforward on-site assembly.
What are cone tanks typically used for?
They're widely used wherever solids need to settle out or liquids need to fully drain without residue building up in the base — common examples include chemical dosing, effluent and waste processing, food and drinks manufacture, and agricultural liquids such as slurry or feed additives. The cone shape is also popular for mixing applications where product needs to be drawn off cleanly at the end of a batch. If your liquid contains suspended solids, a cone tank will generally outperform a flat-bottomed equivalent.
What size cone tank do I need?
Our range runs from 40 litres up to 17,500 litres, so sizing depends on your throughput, batch volume and how often the tank will be drained and refilled. For continuous processes, allow enough capacity for peak flow plus a safety margin rather than sizing to the exact daily volume. If you're between sizes, it's usually worth going up rather than down to avoid overflow or having to cycle the tank too frequently.
Are cone tanks suitable for outdoor installation?
Most of our cone tanks are moulded in UV-stabilised polyethylene or fibreglass, both of which cope well with outdoor exposure, though a shaded or covered position will always extend service life. If the tank will be sited outside on its frame, check that the ground or platform beneath is level and load-rated for the tank when full, as a full cone tank concentrates weight over a smaller footprint than a flat-bottomed one. Also confirm any inlet, outlet or vent fittings are suitably weatherproofed for the environment.
What outlet and valve options are available for cone tanks?
Cone tanks are typically fitted with a bottom outlet at the base of the cone to allow complete drainage, and this can usually be specified with a range of valve types depending on what you're handling — ball valves for general liquids, or butterfly valves where solids or slurry are present. It's worth thinking about valve material and seal compatibility with your product at the ordering stage, particularly for chemicals or food-grade applications.
